Goals

1.  To develop a better, more accessible, humane and limited kill shelter for the county of Giles, which will support higher adoption rates, and responsible ownership.

2.  Promote humane education throughout the county of Giles, Virginia and the New River Valley.

3.  Increase awareness of responsible breeding and responsible ownership throughout the New River Valley.

4.  Develop a spay/neuter and vaccination program for low-income families with pets.

5.  Support and encourage other animal welfare organizations, both within the New River Valley and the state of Virginia.

6.  Promote efforts incorporating animals into daily life such as therapy dogs, assistance animals, search and rescue, etc.

7.  Rescue, placement, and referral of animals into screened, sound homes, and with established rescue organizations

Purpose of Organization

   To work directly with the county of Giles, Virginia, the county Animal Control Officers, and the Board of Supervisors in order to give the companion animals of Giles County a chance at life and increase the adoption rate.   We also work to ensure that the county is in compliance regarding all state laws and regulations.

Philosophy of Organization

    That all creatures, great and small, shall be treated equally, fairly, and humanely.  That we shall work towards eliminating irresponsible breeding, irresponsible ownership, and therefore, animal suffering, through education and humane programs.
