About the Animal Welfare Foster Program
Who We Are:
The Animal Welfare Foster Program is a volunteer group of veterinary students in Blacksburg, Virginia. The program was established in November of 2004 with the purpose of providing temporary homes for rescued animals with the hope of finding them loving, permanent homes. We do not have a central shelter, so all of our rescued animals live in foster homes while they are waiting to be adopted. During this time, they receive the appropriate preventative healthcare and learn house manners so that they will become healthy, happy pets. For more information contact: Alisha Oehling at abretz@vt.edu.
The Animal Welfare Foster Program does not represent the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.

Our petfinder site is updated more frequently, and may have animals that are not listed on NRV site.
Animal Spotlight
Jada is a 10 year old, spayed female German Shepherd Dog. She loves to run and jump. She is very much a people person and even thinks she is one! She does well with dogs and cats, but can be somewhat dominant. She has lived with Kobe for several years and would love a new home with him. For more information please contact Ashley at adietz3@vt.edu.
Stella is a stray calico who is about 2 years old. She has been spayed, vaccinated, deflead, dewormed, tested negative for the feline leukemia and feline AIDS viruses, and is litterbox trained. She has some scarring that has affected the ends of her ears, but is an otherwise healthy girl. She is a very beautiful and gentle little girl who is learning and starting to really enjoy what it's like to be indoors and with a family! You can see from her pictures how much she loves attention! Stella is a little girl with a big personality.
She'd love to spend all day being lazy with you or following you around the house, and if you can't find her, just call her name and she'll come running.
She loves her treats almost as much as she loves people. Stella is extremely affectionante and calm, she even gets along with dogs and other cats! She is a beautiful little girl that would make a spectacular addition to your family! (picture 2, picture 3)
